Renewable Northwest's Regulatory Affairs Director, Mike Goetz, was recently quoted in an OPB article covering Portland General Electric's major renewable energy expansion. Mike highlighted that the two battery storage projects announced in Washington County will add meaningful capacity and flexibility to PGE's system, helping lower customer costs. While supportive of the expansion, he noted that PGE still faces a steep climb to meet the 2030 greenhouse gas reduction benchmark, characterizing the procurement as demonstrating "continual progress in the near term" but acknowledging that significantly more resources will need to be secured to satisfy House Bill 2021's future mandates.
