Description:

The Pacific Marine Energy Center's Newport North Energy Test Site is a testing facility of marine renewable energy technologies. This site has no permanent generation installations.

The site is located 2 nautical miles off the coast of Yaquina Head, Oregon. The testing site is run by the Northwest National Marine Renewable Energy Center, which is funded by US Dept. of Energy and is a partnership between Oregon State University and the University of Washington.

The Newport North Energy Test Site (NETS) can accommodate devices up to 100kW connected to the Ocean Sentinel, and larger devices if no grid emulation or connection is required.

There is a grid-connected site currently under development (initially referred to as "PMEC") will be referred to as the Newport South Energy Test Site (SETS). SETS will serve as the utility-scale wave energy test facility for the US, and is expected to be available for device testing in 2016.
