Located in Paisley, Oregon in Lake County.
The Surprise Valley Electric Paisley Geothermal binary power plant was fully commissioned in October 2015 and consists of three wells (two production and one injection) and has a capacity of 3.1 MWe gross (2.4 MWe net). Along the way, the utility received two major financial incentives. The U.S. Department of Energy is providing $2 million in American Recovery Act grant funds and the Oregon Department of Energy has approved the project for a business energy tax credit for a value of up to $5 million. The project also was approved to convert a Cooperative Finance Corporation loan to clean renewable energy bonds in the range of 1.25 percent. These funding sources have been invaluable to making this project a reality.
Location, and other details, confirmed from a paper submitted to World Geothermal Congress 2015 by Lynn Culp at Surprise Valley Electric (among others) entitled "Small Scale Geothermal Development - An Example of Cooperation Between Land Owner and Electric Cooperative".
