Report on Solar Contributions to Reliability & Resilience Released

Renewable Northwest today released a paper on solar reliability, grid resilience and community resilience, as part of the SolarPlus partnership effort working to triple the amount of solar installed in Washington and Oregon by 2019. Solar Resilience Report CoverOne of the goals shared by SolarPlus stakeholders within this process is to enhance the resilience and reliability of solar, specifically through demonstration projects that integrate solar and storage and other smart grid technologies. In September 2018, Renewable NW intern Summer Dean finished an in-depth report for SolarPlus that defined grid resilience, community resilience, and reliability within the context of distributed solar. The report, The Contribution of Distributed Solar to Reliability, Grid Resilience, and Community Resilience, will help guide utilities, regulators, and policymakers in Washington and Oregon in upcoming months, and will be used by the Oregon Department of Energy this fall in their resilience roadshow.
